A beautiful iconic drawing of Tarzan by one of the immortals,Roy G. Krenkel. Haven\'t seen as nice a single image of the legendary jungle man by Roy in some time. -As fans of ERB know Roy remains one of the premier Burroughs artists of the 20th century.
Along with Frank Frazetta and Allen St. John his interpretations of the icons of heroic fantasy have become part of our popular culture. 2018 marks the centenary of Roy\'s --birth and a major book is being planned to celebrate his life and work and reintroduce it to those who may not be over familiar with it. It was Roy\'s heroic fantasy work that inspired Frank and countless later illustrators. Nobody in the field has cast a longer shadow not even Frazetta over the visual look of the landscape of sword and sorcery fiction. For close to 50 years his iconic drawings have appeared in countless books and magazines shaping our vision as he brought to life in his magnificent pen drawings the likes of Tarzan, John Carter, Dejah Thoris, Conan, King Kull and others.
Coming in the fall of 2016 another book titled Sirens and Sibyls will collect together for the first time Krenkel\'s images of women -from his drawings of screen goddesses executed in the 1930s through his superb drawings for American Aphrodite in the 1950s -through the great work he produced in the 1960s and 70s for Don Grant Books (most particularly Sowers of the Thunder) , Owlswick Press , Eclipse and -AMRA . To this day the monumental collection of sketches published under the title Swordsmen and Saurians , now long out of print remains one of the corner stones of great imaginative illustration.
