This is a Royal Doulton Kingsware globular shaped \"The Watchman\" Dewars whisky flask which stands 7 1/4 inches high, measures 5 1/4 inches at the widest part and dates to around 1902. The whisky flask was made for Dewars Whisky and the words \"Dewar\'s Whisky\"in a circle is to be found on the base together with the early Royal Doulton trade mark. The front of the flask has the full length figure of \"The Watchman\" holding a lantern.The watchman was the precursor ofthe policeman. He patrolled the streets of the city at night carryinga lantern and staff and calling the state of the weather and the hour. The watchman was replaced by the \"Peeler\" the forerunner of the modern policeman in 1829. The condition of this whisky flask is very good - there are no chips, cracks, damage or repairs to be found and the colours are bright and crisp with no loss or scratches. There is some very, very light crazing in places and a tiny pin headhole under the glazeon the top rim which has been there since the flask was madebut nothing too serious or detracts in an way.
