It is also marked, BY ROYAL WARRANT TO HER MAJESTYTHE QUEEN (the other jugs that I have seen like this one has HIS MAJESTY THEKING). Looking at the time line of theEnglish monarchs makes the Queen marked jugs older than the ones marked withKing.

Potter marks on the bottom include Dalton Silicon Lambethmark that was used from 1880-1932, England/ 6687/ Rd. 224092.

The mark, TO HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN would have beenqueen VICTORIA . Victoria was on thethrone from 1837 to 1901, placing this jugs manufacture somewhere in the years1880-1901. It is decorated with mythical birds and animals in the fashion ofthe ancient Greeks. I believe this jugs form is of a Corintihan Qinochoe (Greekwine jug).

This jug is perfect…I don’t see a flaw on itanywhere. Height is approximately 5-3/4” tall at the handle x 4-3/4” across thebase. It is a nice combination of tan, brown and black; a really attractivepiece.

You won’t regret adding this to your collection. Wehave used it on a side table in the den for years and loved it.
