LargeSize Early Production Union Jack Charles Noke

This listing is for a superbearly Royal Doulton figure of an English bulldog with the British Flagdraped over his back. This model was designed by Charles Noke and wasfirst produced with the union jack on his back during WWII. This figurehas become somewhat of an icon, especially after it was featured insomeof the most recent James Bond films where this figure plays a poignantrole. This figure was produced in three sizes, this being the largest,measuring 8\" long and 6\" high. As you can see this one has a thickyellowish glaze and a flat unglazed base, indicative of a very earlypiece. It carries the model number 645658 and the early Doulton crownmark. There is some pooling of the glaze and some has seeped to theunderside, also a tiny fleabite on one of the dog\'s toes (see close-uppicture). But apart from that he is fine with no other damage and norepair/restoration. There is age crazing of the glaze and some slightwear from age but in all a very fine and very early example of thisclassic Doulton figure!

Please excuse any glares (whitepatches) that you may see in the pictures, these are caused byreflections of light on the glaze and are not on the actual objectitself.
