Royal Doulton \'POPPIES IN A CORNFIELD\'c.1936Flute edgedround plate 27cm diameter
In excellent condition free from cracks, chips and repairs however just enough surface crazing to make this interesting.... indicative of it\'s age.

\"POPPIES IN A CORNFIELD\"

\"D5097\"

I have this Royal Doulton sandwich plate for sale. It is part of theSeries Ware collection and of course it is English made. This pattern is called\"Poppies C\" showing s scene of poppies in a cornfield.

The pattern is described in Louise Irvine\'s Royal Doulton Series Warereference books(Vol 4, Page 198). This is the only scene and though the sceneis listed as \"Poppies in a Cornfield\", a nice pattern with lovely rich red hand-painted poppies.

The plate is \'FLUTED\' in shape and has a green trim around the rim. It is on a cream ground. Colours aremainly red, yellow, brown, white, green, and blue.

The plate is 27cms diameter

Condition is good to very good for its age, with no chips or cracks. Thereis some glaze crazing and yellowing of the glaze on the back commensurate withthe age of the plate. The green trim is in good order with no missing paint.

The reverse side has a black Royal Doulton lion and crown back stamp andthe pattern registration number, \"D5097\". According to Ms Irvine, the pattern was produced from 1931 andwithdrawn by 1950. The plate is therefore about 81 years old.

This plate is in very good vintage condition in my opinion. This would makea lovely addition to a collection of this pattern.

This will be well packed and sent Registered Mail with Insurance.
Royal Doulton China was founded in London, England, in 1815 by a potter named John Doulton. Originally Mr. Doulton made only stoneware, but his son, Sir Henry Doulton, expanded the company into many other areas of ceramic products. By 1877, Royal Doulton china began to be produced at their newly acquired factory in Stoke-on-Trent. Royal Doulton china pieces quickly became known throughout the world for their distinctive design and quality. The company officially became Royal Doulton in 1901, when Sir Henry Doulton was granted use of the word \"Royal\" by King Edward VII. In the 1930’s, Royal Doulton also began production of their world famous figurines and series ware.
