Folky, and primitive. 19th Century rabbit and doughnut rosette cookie cutters. Both show tinker\'s repairs (silvery solder) indicating their age and continuous use. The metal attracts a magnet. These come from the home of someone whose family has lived in the United States since the 18th Century, in Vermont and, later, Michigan. Exact age and area of manufacture are unknown.Rabbit: 3 5/8\" from nose to tail, 3 1/2\" from top of ear to foot. Has one oversized pierced hole. Cutter is 1/2\" deep. Flat back shows the outline of the rabbit from repeated pressure of the baker\'s hand. Nice dark gray patina. Some solder separation (repair did not complete the seal) at rabbit\'s belly. Minor rust spots that are evident in photos.Rosette: 2 3/4\" diameter, hole is 1 1/8\" diameter. One small pierced hole. Cutter is slightly less than 1/2\" deep. Nice dark gray patina. There is some solder separation (repair did not close the seal) at opposite ends of the rosette. This cutter has a handle soldered onto the flat back. Please view photos to see a couple of rust spots. Also see the portion of the scalloped edge where the scalloped tin of the cutter overlaps itself and is curled back.
