Thank you and Happy Holiday Season to All early folding bowie knife English made for the American market and should date from right around the Zachary Taylor presidency which surely did not last very long, possibly right after his death in 1850. With its German silver mounts having both lower bolsters cast in relief with Zachary Taylor\'s bust and probably one of his sayings \"Ask No Favors and Share No Responsibilities\" and lower \"Z. Taylor\" interrupted by the original rivet. Cattle bone grips, one with small losses and old crack another one undamaged. Mounted with a spear point blade of very durable and robust structure, seen some usage in its life now showing nice patina light scratches and wear, marked to uncommon maker in Sheffield. Blade opens perfectly firmly and locks in place with a nice loud snap, released by pressing on the steel trigger in the beginning of the back spring. Blade tends to go a bit too deep inside the handle when folded probably due to thereducededge over the knife\'s extensive life. Wear overall but in nice tight shape, has thick steel frame and solid bolsters, quite a heavy piece for a folder this size, could easily be used as a small billy club if struck with the president\'s portraits, that part is solid as a little hammer and will knock you out.
