Rare 19thC Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Flora Danica Serving Dish Porzellan Plate:
$799.00

For sale is a dish made by Royal Copenhagen in about 1890. It is part of their most famous service - the Flora Danica or Danish Flowers service. Probably one of the most famous services ever made. This plate is hand painted with a nice large blue flower (root to blossom) in the center whose name is written on the back of the plate in Latin and is known as the common blue violet. The rim of the plate has a superb design to it with the pointed edges being gilded, etc. A nice branch type handle with raised flowers on one side. The plate is in great condition for being an actual antique Flora Danica piece (rare since they only started making them in the 1860\'s for the general public to buy. It has a small chip to one of the pointy edges on the rim and chips to the raised flowers near the handle. Underneath the foot ring has a flaw which is unimportant but pictured in the photos. The plate is marked underneath with the three wavy blue lines in under glaze as well as an impressed HH for the modelers initials. It is 1.75 inches tall including handle, 8.875 inches long including handle and 6.825 inches wide.
