United Indurated Fibre Co. manufactured containers made of lacquered wood pulp at the end of the nineteenth century.
This is an early ice cream maker or \"Cream Freezer\". The only literature found describes this as marketed to \"Freeze cream without a dash or a revolving can.\"These are normally listed as buckets or fire pails because they NEVER have the lid which describes their purpose.
The directions for freezing cream are still on the lid, but have become almost entirely illegible. The company logo and patent dates on the bottom are still in excellent condition. The bale has become disconnected (but is included) and one of its anchors is missing. The fibre bucket and lid are both round and solid with a few scuffs and scratches. See photos.
All patent dates are from 1886 or before.
