This is a really good set of antique Victorian travelling scales, unusual in having brass chains to support the 2.5 inch diameter brass pans from the 6.5 inch brass beam. It has the maker\'s label inside, W H Bailey & Son, 38 Oxford Street, London, who were renowned makers of surgical and pharmaceutical equipment trading at this address from 1894. There is a nice stack of weights with the balance including 2, 1, 1/2, and 1/4 ounces all marked with an Edwardian stamp and smaller weights of 2, 1 and 1/2 dram - these may not have been originally supplied with the balance but are contemporary. The balance is in very good undamaged condition and works very well and the box is also in good condition with light wear and signs of use. The box measures 8.5 x 4 x 1.75 inches deep.Payment
