Rare Antique 1800Russian bronze enameled icon \" Crucifiction\" with two Seraphims.
The icon is in good condition, with excellent patina. It has two colors of enamel. The size of the Icon is about 6 1/4\" x 4 \"(16 X 10 cm).
At the center of the Crucifix is the image of Christ crucified. \"God the Father\" is at the top along with the dove and angels. They stand for The Mount of Golgopha. Under these letters is the skull of Adam. Holy Tradition teaches that Christ was crucified in exactly the same place as Adam was buried.
On the back is much Cyrillic writing.
The icon is in the symbolism of the Old Believer tradition. It is the eight pointed cross.
