Circa 1770-85 This is a nice example of Revolutionary War Era. Hand/Saluting Cannon Powder Tester.
This style of cannon was used for the function of a Salute Cannon as well as to test black powder. It\'s also noted these cannons were used as a \"hand cannon\" placing a musket ball in the barrel and discharging at short range.
Found right here in Upstate NY at a recent Estate Sale.
Measures 5 3/4\" tall.
Has a typical Hexagon patten barrel.
Note the formation of the touch hole were a hot wire or wick would have ignited the charge.
Some expected pitting from age, overall a very good- example.
Weight is 5 lbs 2oz. As such we are suggesting using a medium flat rate box for shipping.
Please take a moment to click on the individual images for great details of the construction and original condition!
