This is a rare antique French Gosselin of Paris black shell boulle inlaid classically designed mantel clock
The case has a beautiful patina to the shell which contrasts superbly against the boulle inlay, the inlay is over the front and sides of the case
The boulle is in great condition apart from on the two shoulders of the case, as you can see in the photographs their is missing inlay on both sides at the top of the main case, the rest of the boulle in in great condition with no missing parts and no lifting
Their are various bronze mounts on the case which are in good order and have their original finish with a beautiful patina
It has a embossed bronze and porcelain cartouche dial which has blue roman numerals, the dial is in good condition, their is a porcelain cartouche plaque which is signed Gosselin a Paris
The clock has a 8 day French timepiece movement, originally it would of had a verge escapement but this has been converted to an anchor at some point in its past as so many were
The movement would of originally had a pull cord striking mechanism which would of struck a ting tang sound on the quarters on two bells that would of sat to the top of the case, i am guessing that when it was converted they took out the striking train maybe due to space, this is unfortunate but the movement is still in full working order as a timepiece with its original signed plates its just a shame that things like this happen
The clock measures 21\" high x 9.75\" wide x 5.25\" deep

Condition Report
The clock case is in great condition for age with quality boulle inlay which really sets the clock off, their is missing boulle as stated but it does not detract from its overall display look
The movement is in full working order and their is always the possiblity of getting the movement converted back to its original state unfortunately this takes time which is the only reason i am not getting it done myself
