We are offering an unusual hammered copper jug made by Hayle Cornwall around the end of the 19th Century. It is designed with a typically Arts&Crafts Movement pattern with a stylised flower motif. The jug is tall and elegantly tapered square . All the surfaces, including the handle are beaten with a small circular stamped pattern (hammered). The handle is solid, flattened and beautifully shaped, and rivetted to the pot, as is the sharply triangular \'beaked\' spout. The planished copper surface of the jug has repousse designs typical of the Maker ( many items were hand finished and unmarked) with seams to the base and rear secured with exposed rivet work. The jug is around 9 inches tall and the square base has each side measuring 4 3/4 inches. This jug is signed \"Hayle Cornwall\" with cursive letter on the base (the signature looks like the craftman signed it by himself).
