Rare Antique Sepia Photograph of Father & Son From Lemont, IllinoisUp for sale is a rare late 19th or early 20th century original sepia photograph of what appears to be a father and his son, most likely miners from Lemont, Illinois, a village located about 30 miles southwest of Chicago at the time, and which is now a Chicago suburb. In the 19th century Lemont was called Athens and was known for its limestone quarries. Lemont\'s limestone was called \"Athens Marble\" and was used to build some of Chicago\'s most important buildings. What is unusual about this photograph is that it was taken in the studio of \"Miss Elder\", a woman photographer. It was rare for a woman to be a professional photographer at that time. The photograph is mounted on a board.Photo size: 3-7/8\" x 5-1/2\"Condition: Condition of photograph is quite good, considering its age. There are some breaks at the top left corner (please see picture). Make sure to check my other sales, and thanks for looking
