The height of the art of English Victorian Pottery, Minton created some of the most sought-after fine majolica oyster plates. Some indentures from the original firing are present on the underside of the piece, two spots of glaze loss on the surface (may be craft-related), and overall crazing consistent with its age which do not detract from its allure but are mentioned for complete accuracy (please review photos). It is impressed with several maker\'s marks including MINTONS (\'S\' added to \'Minton\' in 1871), year cypher for 1874 (using Minton\'s own symbols for years of production) and registration diamond. Diameter 23.825 cm/9 3/8 inches.
