Splendid & Rare late 18th Century Solid Silver Vinaigrette Possibly of French Origin
Description - Rare oval solid silver vinaigrette with hinged lid, thumb piece and hinged inner grill.
The lid has anintegrated glass locket with an inner light brownmateriel, the lid also has the inscription \"S.JONES. OBT MAY 14 AT 65.\"the vinaigrette has a ribbed side and an engraved monogram on the base.
The interior has a beautifully hand pierced and engraved hinged silver-gilt grill, the interior is also fully gilded (Gold washed).
The vinaigrette has its original sponge, the vinaigrette is unmarked but has been silver tested positive and is of a high grade standard of silver.
Condition - The vinaigrette is in excellent condition, there are no dents, dinks, dints, splits, holes or repairs.
There are no chips to the glass, and the engraving is clear, the lid and grill\'s hinge is in excellent order withno looseness or wobble.
The inner grill is in excellent undamaged order and the interior silver-gilt has a nice golden shine with no wear.
Dimensions & Weight - The vinaigrette is 2.8cm wide x 2 cm long, the weight is 9.4 grams
