Stunning antique Simon Halbig Art Nouveau/late Victorian era bisque head doll.
From my collection, the best one!
Around 23\" long. Kid leather body. Pierced ears, glass eyes.
Impressed Mark on bisque lowerbacknear leather edge is 109-9 or might be i09-9
Doll was purchased by a collector in Vienna around 40 years ago, then from Germany 20 years ago. The Simon Halbig imprint was first protected in 1905. They did manufacture the exquisite bisque heads for other companies, so it is unclear exactly when this doll was made, probably before 1900, that is why no S H mark.
The head has blue fixed eyes with painted eyelashes top and bottom. The eyes from Simon Halbig dolls are always a bit special and shimmer in multiple tones. Rims are dark. Classic red dot painted on inner part of both eyes, to make them look more realistic. Eyebrows are thick and long and painted with individual brush strokes. Open mouth with 4 teeth on top visible. Ears are pierced and decorated with typical earring from Simon Halbig. Her beautiful brunette/auburn wig looks original and is mohair.Upon inspection with flashlight inside head, I could seeno cracks. Body is kid leather, very nice condition. Must not have been played with much. Tape on right ankle. Undergarments original! Antique black coat with wool \"lamb\" trim, matching hat and muff.
