rare balinese axe Kudi Tranchang not Keris 19th century :
$850.00
A very rare kudi Tranchang from Bali.Very little is known about these pieces.Zonneveld refers to Paravicini as these being a knife with a fanciflly shaped blade and a long hilt, to which magical powers are attributed. Page 76 of Zonneveld\'s \'Traditional weapons of the Indonesian Archipelago\' shows a detailed line drawing but no photographic examples.Being akin more to an axe, this example is 63cms overall with a thick heavy blade of 27cms. The hilt is of palm wood showing a nice patina and is iron bound to both ends. The designs to the steel surface are all hand chiseled and filled with silver and copper. The reverse shows Naga-banda.A stunning old priests weapon to which magical powers are attributed.See my other listings. I have an entire collection on sale.Postage and handling within Australia $20. Postage and handling internationally $80.
