Description:From a Salzburg/Austria collection! Wonderful rare antique Austrian/Bavarian silver CHARIVARI 14 inch chain decorated with an assortment of amulets! Charivaris are traditionally worn across the front of a German or Austrian folk or hunting outfit such as a vest, Dirndl or Lederhose. The Charivari has evolved into an intricate and sophisticated piece of jewelry for young and old -- for instance as a hunting accessory -- and is much loved in the hunting circles of the aristocracy and high society. It displays an array of charms or amulets, often hunting trophies such as a tooth, tail, claw or small antlers of an animal. Also to be found are minerals or crystals, old silver coins and so on.This particular piece has what appears to be a small mountain goat\'s hoof, a mountain crystal, 2 small antlers, a tooth, and what looks like a small horn.The amulets are attached to a vintage silver metal chain with clasps at either end to attach to a belt, vest or, if worn around the neck, another chain.
