Here we have a nice CDV of Commodore George C. Read he served the United Sates Blockading Forces of the South and at Mobile Bay commanding one of the ships. An \"old salt\" he was in the US Navy from the War of 1812 and served also in the Mexican War at Vera Cruz. He was an extremely capable commander.
