Rare Antique Dome-ToppedMahogany Glass-front Bookcase

This beautiful,Bookcase/Curio Cabinet was handmade in the late 19th – early 20thCentury in the Gothic Style – a very specialized sub-segment of the Arts &Crafts Movement.

The piece exhibits all thebest elements of the style and period in its simplicity, attention tocraftsmanship, and detail… yet it is perfectly compatible with modern tastesand décor due to its very rare domed shape and the elegant and simple design ofits two glass doors. Both elements makeit ideal as a corner piece.

Its interior is maximallyflexible in arrangement with one fixed shelf and three completely adjustable, solidmahogany shelves. All are deeply scrolledand have cove edging.

The piece is a deep red-brownmahogany. The doors are fashioned withindividually set panes of old, original glass (a feature almost never foundanymore).

It is 82” high, 38” wide, and14” deep. Booth doors open fully…one canbe fixed in place with top and bottom sliding pins, and the other is fittedwith a brass lock and key.

Whenpurchased nearly 20 years ago the dealer was asking $4,750 for the piece but wepurchased it for a little over $4,200. Itcontinues to increase in both rarity and value, but we are downsizing and havepriced it to sell. The Bookcase is inexcellent condition with the expected patina of age and use, but with no cracksin the glass panes, no significant gouges, scratches, or dents to the woodwork.
