Description:
This is a rare original \"Ercol\" limed elm and oak \"Tavern Oak\" early to mid 20th Century linen fold Tudor design single drawer dressing table. The dressing table retains its original Ercol reliabilitylabel verso with the Ercol Lionand bears the design number \"2638\". The dressing table is made from elm and oak having a deep distressed limed oak finish standing on moulded square legs to the front united by an \"H\" stretcher to the rear above which are the very decorative scrolled spandrels with a carved rail and carved drawer front with chip carvings and original turned oak knobs. Above this is the solid oak top with a raised gallery back again with deep distressing with raised dowells and a deep limed oak finish. The dressing table is of classic traditional joined construction with mortise and tennon dowelled joints. The drawers have elm drawer linings with dovetail joints with an oak veneered drawer bottom. A beautiful piece of Ercol furniture.We have dealt with Ercol furniture for many years and this is the first time that we have come across the \"Tavern Oak Range\" and consider this to be a very rare piece of Ercol furniture.Date:
The dressing table dates circa 1920 - 1950.
Condition:
The dressing table is generally in good condition for its age. There are some minor signs of wear, only adding to character and authenticity. The dressing table retains its original finish having a deep distressed finish. There is a small water mark to the front right hand edge otherwise in lovely condition.
