Rare GEORGIAN Solid Silver HANOVERIAN TABLE SPOON Hallmarked 1732 STERLING NR
BOTTOM MARKED HANOVERIAN PATTERN- London: George Hodges

This is a lovely rare GEORGIAN solid sterling silver table spoon or serving spoon which was made in London, England in 1732, probablyby the illustrious silversmith George Hodges at his Charles Street workshops. It is in the Hanoverian pattern with a double drop heel. It measures 7 3/4\" long and isalmost 1 5/8\" across its bowl. This piece of cutlery weighs43.3 grams -almost 1 1/2 troy oz. It is engraved to the rear of the handle with S over W*E.

It is in good condition for its age with just the usual surface scratching than you\'d expect for its age, NO splits or repairs - the usual dimpling to the bowl and wear to the leading edgebut without the usual thinning to the bowl - see photographs - SUPER. It is hallmarked on the reverse of the stem with * over?H, lion passant (sterling silver assay mark), crowned leopard head,R - all somewhat deformed due to reforming after assay - showing that it was hallmarked in London in 1732. I have shown the hallmark so that you can make up your own mind. A rarebottom marked George II solid silver Hanoverian table spoon ingood condition after over 280 years at a very low start!!!!
