Offered for your offerding is an exceptionally & rare, and probably museum worthyEnglishRegency period silver-gilt & agatecaviar serving spoon, made in London by silversmiths William Eley & William Fearn, circa 1816. Thisexraordinary Georgian piece is most notable for its rare & unusual carved and polishedagate stone spoon bowl, whichis fitted into a hand-craftedframe connected to a handle made of sterling silver with a gold wash. The spoon is in the classic Kings patterns, and isengraved withan armorial crest - denoting a formeraristocratic ownership. The back features a series of English hallmarks, which are as follows:lion passant for Englishsterling silver guarantee, \'King\'s\' bust duty mark,maker mark initials \'WEover WF\' for makersWilliam Eley&William Fearn, and lower-case letter \"a\" for the assay year 1816.(See photos).

Thisfinely made antique item is in overall excellent condition, withlight wear to the gildingas one would expect commesurate with age & use of a nearly200 year old serving piece. The agate bowl is in perfect order - free of chips, cracks, etc - note: in photo # 5you will see2 small lineson one side near the lip - these are inside the stone, and not cracks.Please view our photos to make your own assessment of condition.
