Some months ago I was invited to the home of a woman who, along with her husband, purchased the estate of Edwina Williams, mother of the playwright, in the late 1970s.
The home was filled was Tennessee Williams\' personal items, and in 1985 many of the items were saleed at Sotheby\'s.
This letter is part of the last remaining possessions from that home, which I purchased from her.
It begins "Dear Mrs.Williams" and is a solicitation to travel on the RMS Caronia for 80 days as it would visit 28 ports in Europe and Africa.
Note the address on the envelope -- 53 Arundel Place in Clayton, Missouri -
it was there at this family home that mother Edwina had set up an attic room for her playwright son. Some of Tennessee Williams\' personal letters that today appear in print form were written from that address.
