Authentic Medieval Human Branding Iron. Super-rare, from a private collection in Brandenburg, Germany. Circa 15 - 17th century. Approximately 33cm long (about 13\") and about 6cm (little less than 2.2\") at each side of the triangle. The piece is heavy and hand-forged with nice natural patina consistent with age. Heavily used during the times of the inquisition. The triangle was used as branding sign for homosexuality but could have been also used to indicated freemasonry later on in the late 1700s. Human branding was, by the way, also common practice by slave owners in America as illustrated by the second picture. I have other similar items -please check them out as well.
