Fine and rare signed letter from Māori Chief Na Hare te Ownuku (Hare of the Rainbow), dated 5th August 1876 to Mr Pattisson The paper is watermarked \'Conway & Sons 1867\'. The letter was written from Urenui region, a settlement in northern Taranaki, in the North Island of New Zealand. It is located on State Highway 3 close to the shore of the North Taranaki Bight, 13 kilometres east of Waitara and 6 km south-west of Mimi. The letter is accompnaied by its original envelope which has had its stamp removed and has a backstamp for Wellington for 17th August 1876. This charming letter which is written in Māori also retains its original translation:\"To PattissonFriend - Greetings - Great is my love to you.Friends (C.S.P.) I shall never forget you both . Every day and every year (I think of you), my love for you is as great as it would be for my father.
