Rare old Civil War New Hampshire State Militia brass belt buckle. It is lead backed with arrow prongs.
(There are 12 pictures in all and the zoom feature is available, best to use to see the finer details of the buckle. Also the main picture will enlarge if you click on it and then larger images of all of the other pictures can be seen as well).
The buckle is rather heavy, weighing right around 4 ounces. It is 3 3/8\" long and it\'s width is 2 1/8\". (pictures #11 & #12)
The buckle\'s brass face is slightly domed, with the letters slightly raised and you can see this best in pictures #6 & #7. The lead backing\'s surface is a little rough looking as can be seen in pictures #8 thru #12 and in the center of the lead backing is a slight indentation and this shows upbest in the 10th picture.. Someone at some point in time has written W602 in small blue ink print on the lead backingand this can best be seen in the 8th picture.
The arrow prongs look to be hand made (cut) and all of the prongs have some substance to them -- they are not thinly made.
The buckle\'s condition to me is very good. The brass is tarnished, but the brass itself shows only very minor tiny dents and it is relatively clear of any scratches.
