This vintage poster byYuri Smurygin\"Always Ready to Defend theHomeland\"was printed in 1976 in edition 55 000 ex, size 87 x 57 cm. It dedicated to the Soviet army.

A poster by Yuri Smurygin is dedicated to the Soviet army. It presents sailor, soldier and pilot. These are photos of real fighters, which in the form of collage were put at the bottom of composition. Above them there is a Soviet emblem, proudly shining with gold, and overshadowing their peaceful service and military exploits.

Leonid Brezhnev in his speech at the 25th Congress of the CPSU, said: \"The Soviet people can be sure, that the fruits of their creative work are under reliable protection.\" This phrase presents at the poster in rays of the emblem in the upper part of poster, and below it is written with large red letters: \"Always ready to defend homeland\".

The general red background, like the color of the Soviet Flag, illustrates the beauty of the homeland defender\'s deeds, their work, which is always on the verge of life and death. The willingness to sacrifice themselves for the sake of defending fatherland has always been one of the main ideas of glorification of the army. The history of this glory is based on the military exploits during wars, where Russian army has vanquished, and there were many such wars in the Russian history. I

n the poster\'s depths in halo of shining emblem the artist placed Soviet construction drawings, factories, rockets, symbols of science – all, which is related to the \"creative work\", mentioned by Brezhnev. The soldiery \"Trinity\" looks very symbolic. In the subconscious of people, who had Orthodoxy in their culture (in the Soviet Union religion was prohibited), the image of trinity was one of the most beloved and revered.

The eyes of young people are directed in different sides. This causes associations with Russian fairy tales, where the hero meets large stone on the crossroads, on which is written: \"You go straight - you lose your life, you go to the left - everything will be lost, on the right you go - you lose your horse\". Each road is complex, and the warrior\'s way is full of difficulties and losses.
