Rare Royal Vienna Cobalt Blue North Wind Pitcher Tankard Art Nouveau:

For your consideration a rare hand painted Royal Vienna pitcher era 1850-1899. It has theunder-glazed blue beehive/shield as well as the numbers 5728, D.84., B.2.10. This rendering is a transfer with hand painted accents. The tankard has a high ornate handle and a horned satyr figure on the spout. Measures 8\" tall at the highest point and 5.5\" wide.
In Greek mythology satyrs were half man half goat and known for their love of women and wine. Some also refer to this spout as the winter or north wind spout.
It is in rather nice shape for it\'s age, no chips or cracks although some wear on the gold paint. Please see pictures.
