This incredible reprint is by Kitao Shigemasa (Japanese,1739-1820), one of the greatest ukiyo-e artistsof the Edo Period. He is notedespecially for his marvelous bijin-gaor portraits of beautiful women.

This print would be asuperb choice for any collector. It is truly a classic image from the goldenage of ukiyo-e. It was made from meticulouslyrecarved wooden blocks using exactly the same technique – and with the sameexcellent detail and rich color – as the original. Later edition prints like this make an exciting addition to yourcollection and are a wonderful way to decorate – at a small fraction of thestaggering cost of a first edition print.
