Manuel was the last strong Byzantine emperor to occupy the throne before Constantinople\'s surrender to the besieging Christian soldiers of the fourth Crusade. His military successes were many, but his conquests infringed on the interests of other power groups and hastened the empire\'s decline.AE half TETARTERON 16-18mm. 2.33gm. Rare type.

Rev./ no legend, crowned, unbearded bust of Manuel facing, wearing loros, holding labarum and cross on globe.
