Revolutionary / Civil War Era Naval 2 Pounder Ball CHAIN SHOT:
$205.50

Here for your consideration is a fine example of an original 2 pounder Revolutionary/Civil War era naval ball chain shot. It was shot from naval deck guns to damage sails, take down masts and rigging of enemy ships rendering them unable to maneuver or escape. Effectively employed it would allow the attacking ship to over take and board the opposing vessel. These engagements often included fierce hand to hand combat using swords, knives, pikes, axes and muskets. This type chain shot was also used in ground base actions against foot soldiers and cavalry at point blank range with devastating results. Measures approximately 11\" total length, and weighs just over 4 lbs. Ball diameter is approximately 2 3/8\". Forged chain links. Excellent patina. A few surface casting inclusions on the shot as seen in photos. A great addition to your chain shot collection. I will be listing several other artillery period items over the next few days.
