Very large! Two folio volumes. [vi], x, 299, [1, blank]; [iv], [301]-636 pages. With eighty-one full-page plates inserted throughout. Publisher\'s full red cloth, front covers elaborately stamped in decorative black, gilt, and gray, spine elaborately stamped in black and gilt. Silk endleaves. Bookplates are present on inner cover of both volumes. Some rubbing to binding and light soiling to front endleaves in both volumes, the spine is damaged on one volume, the same volume has a bump at the bottom center. Both volumes are exceedingly bright and the engravings are in excellent condition.It goes without saying that Gustave Dore is one of the most collectable illustrators, world wide, and for good reason. These volumes are jam packed with his elegant illustrations.
