Rookwood Art Pottery RARE Turquoise Blue Large Vase 1918 #800A - Red Black Yellow Green Decoration on Aqua Blue Vivid Colors! Fabulous Vase !!

The glaze line is as shown on page 100 of the Rookwood Art Pottery Glaze Lines Book by Anita Ellis. Noting the aqua blue glaze with the darker royal blue interior and body accents. Ellis notes the turquoise blue glaze has an \"evenly spread myriad of tiny bubbles in the glaze giving the barely perceptable hazy appearance to the decoration\" - as this glaze has, simply giving a fabulous artistic look! Lovely!

  • SIZE: 12 3/4\" tall and about 9 1/2\" across the widest point, nice large form. Substantial size and vivid colors!
  • CONDITION: Appears that this was used as a lamp base, as we found years ago with a base drill hole. In addition there are a couple base edge flakes, hard to tell if these items are from the factory or not as the vase has been X\'d. All issues are the bottom base edge, no damage on the bottom and top of the vase. Fabulous display. Crazing is uniform and vase is super clean.
  • MARKINGS: Marked on the bottom with date 1918 - and the shape number 800A - there also is the sideways Capital P for Porcelain Glaze Body (also noted in the Ellis book the Porcelain vases had this Turquoise Glaze application). Please see photos.

Guaranteedto be original and vintage and not restored orrepaired - Note: Any white areas are just the camera flash and overhead lighting glare, not on item itself.

PLEASE REALIZE DESCRIBING EVERY MINUTE FLAW ON HANDMADE POTTERY IS VERY DIFFICULT, HOWEVER WE TRY OUR VERY BEST TO ACCURATELY DESCRIBE. SHOULD WE MISS ANYTHING WE WILL GLADLY WORK WITH YOU. If you have ANY questions about this sale please ask before offerding! The overwhelming majority of the pottery we sell was manufactured in the early 1900s through 1950, please realize these items were handmade and are not \"perfect\" as we would expect them to be if made today in 2010. The term mint to us means: no damage after the manufacture of the item, the piece is as it left the factory with the early handmaking nearly 100 years ago. So please realize that there may be an unglazed area, a fired glaze drip, variations in the color of the glaze, mold defects and/or factory imperfections (glaze bubble or an extra small piece of clay fired under the glaze). We use super-sized photos and show as many angles as we can of the item. Also, please recognize that the color you may see on your monitor may not be identical to the pottery due to the color settings you have on your monitor. We do not color enhance any of our photos.
