This Rookwood Vellum vase stands 8.75\" high by 5.25\" in diameter.  It has a classic trumpeted form, with handles at its hips.  This vase has an \'S\' designation, which according to Anita Ellis (\'Rookwood Pottery: The Glaze Lines\'), indicates that it was a \'Special\' piece thrown for demonstration, perhaps for a prominent visitor to the pottery.  This vase was decorated by one of Rookwood\'s finest male artists, Kataro Shirayamadani, who essentially spent his career at the Rookwood Pottery.  He decorated this vessel with Trumpet blossoms and leaves.  The glaze colors are in a shaded lavender/blue and creamy white ground, with complementary colors in the decoration.  The blossoms, which cover the midline, are blushed in lavender/pink shades, with amber touches  and green leaves.  This beauty is well marked and dated 1935, along with the \'S\' designation mark.  Kataro Shirayamadani\'s Kanji cipher is noted on the base as well.  This vessel is in mint condition, no apologies.
