Royal Copenhagen Extremely Rare Barn Owls and Mouse Inkwell:

This is a stunning Royal Copenhagen Inkwell. It has three Barn Owls looking down on a small Mouse. It is very nicely painted and has firs and cones painted in the tray.

The Inkwell is model number 2177 and was sculpted by Olaf Mathiesen in 1921 (his monogram and the date appear under the Owls). It is in very good used condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. It is a Factory Second because of some tiny firing imperfections in the glaze and a small indent on the inside of the inkwell. It is fairly large measuring approximately 14cm tall, 30cm wide and 20cm long. This really is an exceptional piece.

This Inkwell was painted by Painter Number 163 which dates it to the period 1923 - 28.

There is slight reflection from the camera in the pictures.
