Whether admired individually or as a set, Royal Doulton\'s strikinglyoriginal cold cast figurines are exceptionalexamples of the figure-makers art.
Captain James Hook is a fictional character, the antagonist ofJ. M. Barrie\'splay Peter Pan; or, the Boy Who Wouldn\'t Grow Upand its various adaptations,in which he is Peter Pan\'s archenemy. The character is a pirate captainofthebrig Jolly Roger; Barrie identifies him as Blackbeard\'s formerbo\'sun.Histwo principal fears are the sight of his own blood (supposedly anunnatural color) and the crocodile who pursues him after eatingthe hand cut off by Pan. An iron hook replaced his severedhand, whichgave the pirate his name. After getting atasteof Hook, the crocodile pursues himrelentlessly,but the ticking clock it hasswallowed warns Hook of its presence.
