DESCRIPTION &CONDITION: This plate is part of a series of 24 plates manufactured by Royal Doulton Pottery, Lamberth, England. Originally ordered and distributed by George F. Bassett & Co., New York in 1901. Each plate is decorated with a lovely arabesque blue & white transfer leaf style pattern with the black & white illustration by Gibson in the center of each plate. Charles Dana Gibson signature underneath each illustration with \"Copyright, 1901, By Life Publishing Co.\" printed. The illustrated scenes were taken from Gibson\'s book, \"A Widow and Her Friends\".

The Royal Doulton blue maker mark is on backside, \"Royal Doulton England\". Each plate also includes the impressed Royal Doulton maker mark, an impressed grouping of numbers, and an additional blue mark (artist?).

Very good condition for their age (113 years old). This plate has been used. There are no cracks, chips, staining or repairs. There is very minimal light crazing, and light utensil marks in center of plate, however, it does not detract from the overall look and clarity of the black&white illustration. Colors are bright and vibrant. You will also find minor manufacturer defects on the backside of each plate which are typical from this time period.
