From the \'net:Guaranteed to make you laugh and cry at the same time, here is Fat Boy from The Pickwick Papers by Dickens. Designed by Leslie Harradine for Royal Doulton, he wears a blue shirt with three rows of buttons and a pair of tight-fitting white trousers. His hands are in his pockets beside his rotund belly and his dark hair is slicked down above his chubby apple-cheeked face. His expression is eternally wistful. Figurine measures 3 ¾” tall x 2” wide x 1 ¼” deep; base is 1 ¼” square.(Fat Boy, whose only other name is Joe, is the character for whom medical science named Pickwickian Syndrome, a sleep disorder caused by obesity.) Joe is capable of falling asleep while knocking on a door, and like many of Dickens’s minor characters, is loveable – and laughable. This wonderfully crafted figurine is just that! All of the miniature Dickens characters designed for Royal Doulton by Leslie Harradine went out of production in the early 1980s, but this one bears an older stamp. The word Doulton is arched over England, both in black, with the name of the character also in black. This stamp was used from the early 1930s -1949 (Doulton Collector’s Club, Christopher Evans, on-line). The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks, stains, scratches or crazing.Free Shipping- paypal only. Good luck with your offers!
