DESCRIPTION

They are thin enough to be translucent.

Age: Exact age unknown.

Colour: A shade of brown which is almost a dark, ripe-olive, is thecolour of the leafy-wreath at the perimeter of each saucer, and surrounding thecup-well, about ¼” outside of its edge. There are three rings of metallic-gold: one at the very perimeter; one about ¾” fromthat outer edge; and one half-way between.

Material: Bone china, trimmed with gold.

Diameter: 6-1/8 inches;

Height: 7/8-inch.

MAKER MARKs

On the underside of both saucers, in dark-green, is Royal Doulton’s standardvintage mark of a lion wearing a crown and standing on a crown which rests onthe top of a circle made up of the words, “MADE IN ENGLANDBONE CHINA”, which contains a circle made by thewords, “ROYAL DOULTON ENGLAND,inside of which are 4 capital “D” ‘s, thetop one facing up; the right one facing right (normal position); the bottom onefacing down; and the left one facing left, interlocked in such a way that theycreate a number sign or hash mark as the centre of this pictorial logo. Belowit is the pattern name in gold:

On both saucers, above the logo is a tiny combination of numbersand letters in two black lines:

“R.A.1366

V.1705”

To the right of the crown on which the lion stands, is a tinydark-green “12”.

To the left of the top of the crown on which the lion stands isa tiny, metallic-gold, upper-case “F” (probably 22 karat gold) which is probably the individualfinisher’s mark. On the second (other) saucer of this pair, rather than an “F”,there is a tiny fleck of metallic gold (again, probably 22 karat gold).

CONDITION

Lightly used; very few utensilmarks. There are no breaks in the gold line of rim-trim on either saucer. Nochips, cracks, or crazing.
