For any lover of Royal Doulton figurines, the beautiful and classic Top O\' the Hill, with her delicately pretty face, swirling red dress and mottled shawl, is evidence of all the reasons collectors covet these lovely ladies: the finely detailed work, the glorious design and the sheer beauty of the fine bone china.
Designed by Leslie Harradine, this version of Top O\' the Hill was produced between 1937 and 1971 and this figurine is from the earlier end of that range.
The base has an indistinct impressed rectangular mark and the green underglaze Doulton mark that was in use between 1922 and 1956. The handwritten initials EB and the handwritten designation HN 1834 also appear.
The figurine is about 7 inches tall and in great condition – no nicks, chips, cracks, scratches, crazing or stains.
