This is an exquisitely painted picture of Anne Hathaway\'s (William Shakespeare\'s mother\'s) cottage in Stratford-upon-Avon in England. I believe that the date code is for 1941 and it is signed by the artist Raymond Rushton who specialised in landscapes and old cottages and gardens when he worked at the Royal Worcester factory. The signature is on the bottom right of the plate and is shown in the photographs.
The plate is beautifully gilded all around the rim, again as can be seen in the photographs. It is 10.5\" (27 cm) across so it is large and will need to be packed carefully. The last photograph shows a pen next to it just to show some idea of the scale of this item.Please read the condition description above and study the photographs as they form part of the description and please note, I believe that this plate is a factory second as part of the factory stamp has been erased. The only reason I can see for it being marked as a second is due to two tiny bits of gilding that has got onto the picture. One is at the top of the plate, just next to where the number 12 would be on a clock-face and the other is on the bottom right where the number 5 would be. Both of these can be seen in the photographs.
