SOLOMON NOGARD (1916-??)
Solomon Nogard was born in Russia in 1916. He immigrated to Israel in 1947 and studied at the Bezalel Art School Jerusalem.Soloman Nogard portrays the various types of Jews stressing their unique characteristics; Chasidim with the expressive eyes; Moroccan girls dress in their typical garb; Yemenite brides in their unique headgear; little Yeshiva boys with their sensitive faces; and the patriarchal faces of the Mea Shearim Rabbis. His use of unfinished line and bone for the surface on which he paints enhances the singularity of the portraits. (SAFRAI ART GALLERY)
