Doctor Strange was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in the pages of Strange Tales comics, where he made his debut in issue #110 (July 1963). He co-starred in that comic with The Human Torch and eventually with Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. I always thought it was a shame that the first appearance of Doctor Strange, not to mention Eternity, Dormammu, Clea and Baron Mordo, were either not mentioned at all or only shown as tiny drawings on the covers of Strange Tales in favor of the more popular leading features. During Doctor Strange\'s legendary Steve Ditko run, Doc only had one full cover to himself, the last issue Ditko did (#146). Early in 2004 I began making custom covers for the Strange Tales issues 110-146 with Doctor Strange as the star. These gained a bit of notoriety by being featured in the Roy Thomas fanzine Alter Ego in 2006. My alternate cover to Strange Tales #110 has been used in a number of articles that came out around the same time the Doctor Strange movie did that mistook it for the real thing. For a while Clea\'s Wikipedia page used my custom cover for issue #126 (her first appearance) as its main image.This sale is a one time deal that, if it doesn\'t sell, will disappear from . You will get some key issues of Strange Tales (issue numbers and condition listed below) along with BONUS print outs of my custom covers that wrap around the original comic books. These are one of a kind prints made on high quality paper. Not only do they fulfill any Steve Ditko / Doctor Strange fan\'s dreams of having those classic stories featured on the \"original\" Strange Tales covers, but they also protect the real comic from damage to sunlight. If you\'re looking to get these comics graded with my custom covers, I don\'t think CGC does that. The custom covers are not attached to the original books. They can easily be removed and discarded if you just want the regular comics as they originally appeared in the 1960s.All my comics in my Doctor Strange collection have to be complete and look like they could be sold at a newsstand. This doesn\'t mean brand new gem mint copies, but they can\'t be crumbling incomplete books. Each must be a decent reading copy at the very least. The books sold here are not the nicest copies I own of these issues. (I do have multiples of most of Doc\'s appearances) That\'s why I\'m letting them go from my collection, but this will be the only time I offer these books with my custom cover printouts as a bonus.
