This is asuperb quality antique sterling silver cigarette case hallmarked Birmingham 1901 and made by Deakin & Francis. The case is the best quality I have seen, is superbly decorated and in fantastic condition. The case has good history as the inscription reads
Presented to Thos Locker, AS A TOKEN OF ESTEEM by the members of the WARRINGTON FOOTBALL CLUB 1904.
ThomasLocker founded Thomas Locker & Co first founded in the town in 1878, the wire weaving company grew to become the biggest private employer in the town by the mid 1950s. Thomas Locker was the first person to weave wire on a steam powered loom. The company were major shareholders in the Warrington rugby league club for whom Wires would become a nickname still used today, the family provided a number of Mayors for approx8.3 by 6.3.
