DESCRIPTION:

ITEM: STUNNING Antique ART DECO Sterling Silver & Marcasite Jeweled Folding LORGNETTE EYEWEAR PENDANT

APPROXIMATE AGE: Early 20th Century - Circa 1920\'s

APPROXIMATE SIZE: The lorgnette measures approximately 4\" when closed. The lorgnette measures approximately 4\" across by 4\" in length when fully deployed. The glass lenses measure approximately 37mm in diameter.

ANTIQUE CONDITION: The condition of the sterling silver & marcasite jeweled open-work lorgnette frame is Very Good to Excellent with some minor surface wear noted that is consistent with age and gentle use. The small round ball push-release functions properly and spring action deploys the lenses correctly. The lenses stay firmly in place when closed. There is no evidence of damage, repair or restoration to the lorgnette frame. The lorgnette is fitted with a tapered pendant bail and the lorgnette can be worn as a pendant on a chain or longguard chain. Regarding the magnifying lenses themselves, they show extremely minor surface scratches which are a result of normal wear & tear(nothing major). One of the lenses does show two small edge chips but they are tiny and do not affect the lens. The lenses in this lorgnette can be replaced. This superb quality lorgnette has several screws which allow for the replacement of both lenses.

MARKS: The inner nose bridge is stamped \"STERLING SILVER\"(see close up photograph).
