I purchased this beautiful shelf from an antique dealer in the Black Forest about 45 years ago. It has been in our home ever since. I doubt if I\'ll ever see another one like it and frankly, were it not for the cause listed below, this stunning antique would remain in our home, no doubt about it. This is one of the more ornate hand carved shelves you\'ll ever find. It is carved from cured and aged Linden wood which has been the choice of professional carvers in the Black Forest since the 1870\'s. It was created about 125 years ago and is large, deeply carved, and truly majestic. I\'ve given it an objective look and noticed a couple of very nicely-done repairs on the upper frame, a missing leaf on the left, and a couple of small chips here and there but nothing detracting...I doubt if anything could. The shelf measures overall about 19\" high, about 7 1/2\" or so at its deepest point, and about 13 1/2\" at its widest. The shelf portion itself measures about 13 1/2\" wide and almost 8\" at its deepest point. This clock shelf is just a gorgeous antique and a remarkable work of art. offer with confidence; I have no doubt that you will be truly pleased!
