This is a Stunning Rare Chinese Export Solid Silver Bird ( Wren ) Pounce Pot which was crafted in circa 1900 making it over 116 years old, the design and decoration is breathtaking, this superb Chinese export solid silver Bird Pounce pot has the most beautiful detailing to his body, from his lovely little face with detailed eyes and little beak to his wonderful chased feathers to his body and delicate wings, he has the most stunning look, the holes for the use of pounce is to the top of his head which in turn pulls off for refilling, he sits upon a lovely oval base which would give it stability when sitting on your writing desk, he is fully hallmarked to the base with Chinese character marks, the quality of the craftsmanship is superb, he would have once belonged to a wealthy Victorian Gentleman and sat proudly on his writing desk in a time when letter writing was done daily, he would have contained pounce which would have been sprinkled over the wet ink to speed up the drying , this was in a time many years ago when things where so very different, i have seen many bird shakers but to find a chinese one is special, im sure someone out there will be able to understand the Chinese markings to the base, is is beautiful. This will add something very special to any collection, my photos dont do it justice...
